We’re excited. We hope many other bands make the trip to Nashville to join us!Besides having a new venue, we also would like to announce that this year we will be adding full blown, sanctioned, bagpipe and drum BAND competitions. This means that instead of 3 pipe bands we will have MANY more. You can watch the piper competitions all Saturday and then at the end of the day, we will have a mass bands event. It's going to be loud, very Scottish, and awesome! Thus the theme for 2022 will be "PIPERS ON THE LOCH". ... See MoreSee Less

Celebration of life for James F. MacRae

The MacRae family and Alabama Pipes and Drums would like to invite you to attend a service honoring the late Jim MacRae. Immediately following the service there will be a massed bands following Jim’s usual sunset route around the resort at Ross Bridge where he played every evening. The service will take place on the 29th of January at 3:30 PM at Ross Bridge Resort, located at 4000 Grand Avenue, Birmingham, AL 35226. The family and the band would like to invite any interested pipers and drummers to take part in this massed bands procession in Jim’s memory. Please contact David Richmond at or Daniel Akin at for further information. There will be an informational Zoom meeting on Monday the 17th of January at 7:00 PM Central time to discuss tuning, music settings, and an order of play.
